Reverse Online Auction Shopping

When we hear the word "auction", it always comes in to our mind that the highest bidder gets the item that is being auctioned. Yes, that is absolutely correct. But have you heard of the lowest bidder getting the item? If not, well let me share this reverse online auction shopping that I saw a few weeks ago.

I get to visit this website last week and was thinking why it was called Stardibs.com, if it was about auctioning items, then why name the site that way? When I browsed through the items being auctioned, they were pre-loved items from Filipino celebrities or stars. Then where they got the word "dib"? Remember the word "bid", they had it reversed too!

I was also wondering why they have to do it the other way around. They had created this site for celebrity fanatics to get a chance to purchase an item or memorabilia of their favorite celebrity on a lower price. So, instead of the highest bidder wins, it's now the lowest "dibber" wins! Yes, in this case, the person who bids for the item is called the "dibber". Imagine a dress worth 2000.00PHP but you can get it for only 300.00PHP? Aside from you have saved a lot of money, the dress was previously owned by your favorite star.

Celebrity Marian Rivera had her dresses from Karimadon being auctioned at Stardibs.com.
Stardibs had a partnership with some Filipino celebrities, and they get the items directly from them and are provided with a Certificate of Provenance, a signed document that proves that the said item being auctioned is owned by the said celebrity.

So, what are you waiting for? Be a dibber and start dibbing for your selected pre-loved celebirty items!

A Day At Peryang Adarna

Last May 24, 2015 Adarna House, a children's publishing company celebrated their 35th Year Anniversary with "Peryang Adarna", a whole day carnival themed event which took place at the Activity Center of Trinoma Mall in Quezon City.

If you love reading, you had probably read one of their books. They have multi-lingual books as well.

Peryang Adarna had featured games and activity booths which both children and parents enjoyed. There were some inspired Filipino games too, like piko, tumbang preso and tirador.
I'd like to have this once the house gets renovated.
And I am one proud mama here! I was with my Bunso during the event and he did not even know how to play piko. I just told him to observe the other children who were currently playing. After a few minutes, he said he wanted to play. We approached the representative and when he was asked if he knows how to play piko, he confidently said "Yes!". And he did finished playing it! Too bad all I got were blurred pictures of him while playing. Think that's the next thing I got to learn about photography. :)

And as a reward from playing piko, you got a free ice cream from Selecta.

And there was this one game that I did not even bothered counting anymore as to how many times we went back just to finish it! For those who attended the event I think you know what I am talking about, Yes! It's the Fishing Booth, where we need to catch five fishes, regardless of size in one minute!

The first try, and the next, well, I stopped counting after 5.
And if you did not noticed it, not all fishes can be caught by the mouth, others can  be caught by the forehead (?) since the magnet was placed there. And since Bunso got my Never Give-up Competitive side of me, we were able to complete the stamps in his card and qualified for the raffle draw.

And it seems that most of the parents played this game, including me! :D

Finally!
Two mascots joined the crowd, Adarna House's very own Pilandok, and the big bird of Oishi.

Adarna's very own, Pilandok.
His beak it too big for the picture.
By 3:00 PM the program started hosted by celebrity mom, Camille Pratts. Too bad I never got a clear shot. I wanted to, but I just don't want to block the audience's view too. A special dance number by the Movement Studio together with Pilandok, musical performance by Pundaquit Virtuosi headed by Julliard-trained Coke Bolipata also took place on the event.

And of course, the most awaited book reading by Luisito "Kuya Bodjie" Pascua and Earle Figuracion entertained, not just the children, but also the parents who were star strucked by Batibot's Kuya Bodjie.
Kuya Bodjie, reading the story "Nang Magkakulay ang Nayon".
Earle Figuracion, narrating the story "Ang Barumbadong Bus".
It seems that this guy had memorized the story already.
As literature evolves online, Adarna House formally presented its newest venture, Adarna Digital. Its recently developed apps based on their popular books for a new generation of Filipinos around the world to enjoy.

He got a prize!
And the reason why we visited all of the booths and completed all the activities, joining the raffle! :D He was actually waiting for his name to be called for the winners of Oishi products, but his name was called for the winner of school supplies by Amspec. Now he is using the pencil and eraser. We had set aside the other art stuff for a while, and will use it only if needed.

It was a tiring day indeed. But  we enjoyed our bonding moment at Peryang Adarna.

Hoping to see and join events with Adarna soon!
